FSC-360 WB is a water-based crack filling and repair material specifically formulated for use on Precision Board Plus high density urethane (HDU). It can also be used on wood and metal and it adheres well to most plastics. If you are looking for an easy to sand, quick-drying repair filler for use on multiple materials, then FSC-360 WB is the perfect choice.

Simulate Wood Grain, Stucco and Other Textures

Many times we talk to customers who are interested in giving their sign a wood-grain finish but do not have access to a sandblaster, time for their router to carve wood grain, or are looking for a more custom finish. Coastal Enterprises offers two different surface coatings: PB Hardcoat and TSF-45 for just this reason.

PB Hardcoat is a rock-hard protective coating that can be used to simulate wood grain, stucco, stone and other textures – all without needing to prime the substrate.

TSF-45 is a tough, flexible coating that can be finished using the same methods for finishing cementitious-type plaster products. It can be swirl textured, skip troweled, stucco finished, stipple finished, or used to simulate wood grain. No primer coat is needed, and paint can be applied directly to it.

PB Resin – How To Apply An Ultra-Smooth, High-Gloss Protective Finish To Your Sign

One of the most impressive looking finishes Coastal Enterprises offers is PB Resin. PB Resin is a two-part modified epoxy resin, and can be applied in its clear form, or mixed with lettering enamels to quickly and easily create a high gloss color finish. It can be applied to any density of Precision Board Plus with absolutely no priming or sanding. PB Resin can also be used on polystyrene, wood, stone, steel, aluminum and almost any other substrate.

David Sherby at SherWood Sign & Graphic Design, in Crystal Falls, MI sent in some excellent examples of PB Resin used on Precision Board Plus.

This particular sign, “Lake Mitigwaki”, shows PB Resin applied to Precision Board Plus PBLT-15. The border and letter “A” are 50% Metallic Gold One Shot and 50% Metallic Brass One Shot mixed into PB Resin. The background behind the “A” is PB Resin with various colors swirled together to make it look like a tarnished bronze. The words “Lake Mitigwaki” and the banner are PB Resin with One Shot Chamois mixed in. The maroon lettering and scroll on the banner are made out of vinyl. Application Tips

Apply TSF-45 with a trowel, spatula, hopper, or Painter’s Mitt. Apply in two coats. Work first coat directly into surface and be sure to achieve total wet out and intimate surface contact. Apply sufficient material during second coat to allow the surface to be worked into the desired effect. First coat does not have to completely dry prior to second coat. Use trowel, spatula, other flat tools, or stipple rollers to achieve varying textures. Add a wood grain effect with a comb or tongue depressor, or experiment with other implements you have around the workshop. When dry, TSF-45 has the consistency and durability of the bottom of an athletic shoe. It is completely UV stable and does not need to be primed prior to finishing. Since TSF-45 remains flexible, be sure to use a paint that can tolerate some movement.
