Bonding Methods for Precision Board Using EP-75 Epoxy

Following the steps below for making a structural bonded joint that will keep the hard EP-75 Epoxy from affecting subsequent operations, as well as allow the joints to disappear.

1. When end-bonding Precision Board, use a standard butt bond. This method can also be used to make small cutoffs and left over pieces into usable sized boards.

2. Determine the depth of subsequent sandblasting, carving or routing.

3. Add 1/8" to this measurement and mark line on mating surfaces of Precision Board to tell where EP-75 should stop.

4. Apply mixed EP-75 to both surfaces to be bonded, keep epoxy below line. Mix EP-75 per instructions on product data sheet.

5. Slowly push pieces together to 1/16" of each other. No need to press together tightly. Be sure to have release surface under joint so part does not adhere to work surface.

6. Check depth of EP-75 to be sure it is low enough by inserting a small screw driver, paperclip, etc. into the joint at a depth to equal the Precision Board to be removed plus approximately 1/8". Do this immediately after pushing the two pieces together. Allow to cure 12 hours minimum.

7. After sandblasting, routing or carving is complete, fill the joint gap with FSC-88 to make joint blend into surrounding area. Prime entire surface to eliminate any paint blushing or texture difference around joint.
