PB Hard Coat

Description:
PB Hard Coat is a two component system comprised of a dry mixture and a liquid resin.  When mixed, it becomes a very easy to use thick coating that can be finished into any desired texture.  PB Hard Coat can be applied to any thickness and dries to a rock hard protective surface in about 2 hours.  PB Hard Coat is non flammable and non hazardous.

Mixing:  Mix three parts by volume of dry mixture to one part by volume of liquid resin.  Mix by hand with suitable paddle or with 1/2" drill motor with "mud" mixer.  Thoroughly mix components until they are a smooth paste.  No additional mixing is necessary.  Use care to keep air entrapment to a minimum during mixing.

Application: Application of PB Hard Coat can be done by trowel, painters mitt, or similar tool.  PB Hard Coat must be worked into the surface that is being coated to achieve total wet out.  This will assure adhesion.  PB Hard Coat will start its initial cure and begin to stiffen in about 30 minutes.  In hot weather, this initial cure will begin faster.  To slow this initial cure, spray a very light mist of water over the surface.

PB Hard Coat may be applied directly to Precision Board with no priming.  Be sure surfaces are clean.

Texturing:  Texturing of PB Hard Coat should begin immediately after application.  Surface can be troweled smooth, skip troweled, hand shaped into a stone surface, stipple finished, and even wood grained by using a tool to "draw" in the grain.  PB Hard Coat textures and finishes very easily.  Achieve the desired surface texture as soon as possible to avoid over working the surface.  If surface becomes over worked, slightly mist the surface with water and complete the texturing.

Coverage:  Each pound of mixed PB Hard Coat covers about 1.4 square feet at 1/8" thick.  Any desired amount of PB Hard Coat can be mixed using a volume of three parts dry mix to one part of liquid resin.  A standard volume can be obtained by using a plastic cup of the appropriate size to match the quantity of mixed PB Hard Coat needed.  Mix three of these cups full of the dry mix to one cup of the liquid resin.  Any size container will work as long as the same size is used for both components.

Exterior Application:  PB Hard Coat must be painted with an exterior paint.  PB Hard Coat will accept any type of paint without priming.  Be absolutely sure Hard Coat is completely dry prior to painting as blistering may occur.

Clean Up:  Clean up using warm, soapy water.
