EP-75 Epoxy Bonding Adhesive

DESCRIPTION:

EP-75 Epoxy Bonding Adhesive is a two component epoxy putty used to structurally bond Precision Board to itself, as a sign mounting adhesive, or wherever a high strength epoxy is needed. It is suitable for interior, as well as exterior applications.

EP-75 will not shrink. It cures rock hard, enabling it to be sanded, drilled, tapped, sawed, machined, painted, and feathered to a zero edge.

EP-75 is highly resistant to water, acids, alkalines, and solvents. It contains no metallic fillers, is a non-conductor of electricity, and will not promote electrolysis.

APPLICATIONS:

Areas to be bonded must be dry, clean, and free of dust and dirt. To obtain maximum adhesion strength, EP-75 must attach to a solid surface. Avoid bonding to loose paint or scale.

Mix equal amounts of Part A Base and Part B Catalyst thoroughly to assure proper curing. Note that Part A is blue and Part B is black. EP-75 is completely mixed when all streaks of color disappear, leaving a smooth and consistent gray adhesive. Mixing is best accomplished using putty knife to cut Part A into Part B. Allow ample mixing time to be sure EP-75 is totally mixed or it will not cure. It will remain soft and pliable if not totally mixed.

Using a putty knife, apply EP-75 to both surfaces to be bonded. Force the material onto and into the surfaces to guarantee total surface wet out. Prior to curing, use a putty knife dipped in mineral spirits to smooth and feather EP-75 that has squeezed out.

When joining two pieces of Precision Board, it is best to keep the EP-75 approximately 1/8" below the final sandblasted or routed surface of the joined piece. This keeps from having to sandblast or rout through this extremely hard material. After full cure, fill this area with FSC-88 to facilitate easy sanding and feathering. Please see EP-75 Bonding Methods sheet.

Pot life (work time) for material is approximately 30 minutes at 75 degrees to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Application below 75 degrees significantly increases pot life and overall cure time. Application above 80 degrees will speed reaction time and severely reduce pot life, i.e., working time.

Do not apply EP-75 when temperature is below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, as curing may not occur. Total cure time is 24 hours. EP-75 is not affected by exterior temperatures after curing.
